The Board of Trustees is the official elected body of the Mendocino-Lake Community College District. Its primary role is to set the overall operating policies of the College District. The Superintendent/President, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees, carries out these policies. The seven Board members are elected for four year terms by registered voters in the various geographical trustee areas of the district. There is also one student member selected by the student body, who serves for one year and regularly participates in all meetings of the Board of Trustees.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees typically meets on the second Wednesday of the month on the Ukiah campus in Room 4210 at 4:00 P.M., with the exception of the April, June and September meetings. The April meeting will be held at the North County Center, the June meeting will be held at the Lake Center and the September meeting will be held at the Coast Center.

Board Policies and Administrative Procedures
District board policies and administrative procedures are divided into chapters and organized by subject area.
In BoardDocs select 'POLICIES' in upper right. Select 'Board Policies' in the dropdown menu on the left.
Board policy is the voice of the Board of Trustees and defines the general goals and acceptable practices for the operation of the District. It implements federal and state laws and regulations. The Board of Trustees, through policy, delegates authority to and through the Superintendent/President to administer the District. The Superintendent/President and District employees are responsible to reasonably interpret Board policy as well as other relevant laws and regulations that govern the District.

Administrative procedures implement Board policy, laws, and regulations and are approved through the District's participatory governance process. They address how the general goals of the District are achieved and define operations of the District. They include details of policy implementation, responsibility, accountability, and standards of practice. Procedures do not require Board of Trustees action.

Trustee Vacancy
The Mendocino-Lake Community College District Board of Trustees is accepting applications to fill a vacancy in Trustee Area #4 and Trustee Area #7. Trustee Area #4 includes Hopland, Boonville and Mendocino. Trustee Area #7 included Lakeport and Kelseyville.
The Board is responsible for the performance of the Mendocino-Lake Community College District, which serves approximately 8,000 students and provides vital educational services to the various communities in the region.
The Board is seeking candidates who have the ability and time to fulfill the responsibilities of being a member of the board. To be eligible, an individual must be at least 18 years old; must be a resident of the district and reside in Trustee Area #4 or Trustee Area #7; must be a registered voter; and must not be disqualified from holding civil office by the Constitution or any law of the state. In addition, candidates may not be an employee of the district.

The selection will be made at an open meeting of the Board of Trustees which will take place in January or February 2025. The selection date and time will be finalized on December 18, 2024.
