Priority Registration allows qualified students to register early for classes.

Mendocino College utilizes a priority registration system that is in compliance with California Education, Title 5 Code of Regulations for Community Colleges and SB 1456. 

To be eligible for priority registration, students must complete all of the following:

  1.  Application for Admission
  2.  New Student Orientation
  3.  Placement Tool or Submit High School and/or College Transcripts
  4.  A counselor-approved Student Education Plan (SEP) on file with a specified course of study that leads to an Associate Degree, transfer, State-approved Certificate of Achievement or career advancement.    
  5.  Be in good academic and/or progress standing.
  6.  Have not earned more than 100 degree applicable units at Mendocino College.

Continuing students must also meet the following requirements by April 1st to remain eligible for Summer/Fall priority registration and by October 1st to remain eligible for Spring priority registration:

  1. Be in good academic and/or progress standing.
  2. Have not earned more than 100 degree applicable units at Mendocino College.

Spring 2025 priority registration assignments will be posted to student records Tuesday, October 29th and reminder emails sent soon after.

**Definitions of First Day Priority Populations:

CalWORKs - Matriculated students in good standing that are receiving services through CalWORKs.

DRC - Matriculated students in good standing that are receiving services through the Disabled Students Program and Services (DSPS).

EOPS - Matriculated students in good standing that are receiving services through Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS).

Foster Youth - Matriculated students in good standing that are verified current or former foster youth and are under 25 years of age as of the first day of the term.

Homeless youth - Matriculated students in good standing that are verified current or former homeless youth and are under 25 years of age as of the first day of the term.

Military Veterans - Matriculated students in good standing that are current members, or Veterans, of the Armed Forces or State Military Reserve.

Tribal TANF - Matriculated students in good standing that are receiving Tribal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).

Parents of a Minor Child - Matriculated students in good standing that are the parent of a child under 18 years of age receiving more than half of their support from the student.

No.  However, you can appeal your loss of priority and Promise Grant.

Students who have lost priority registration due to their academic or progress standing may appeal for a reinstatement of their priority registration if the standing is the result of extenuating circumstances (verifiable accident, illness, or other circumstance beyond the control of the student) or if there has been significant academic improvement. 

To appeal for reinstatement of Summer/Fall priority registration, students must submit a completed Priority Registration Appeal form and supporting documentation to the Office of Admissions and Records no later than April 1st and for Spring priority registration no later than November 1st.
