The Hispanic/Latino event planning committee cordially invites you to save the date for the 13th annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) event.

Day of the Dead celebrations date back thousands of years, when Indigenous people from central Mexico would honor their deceased by placing food and water offerings on their resting places. In modern Day of the Dead celebrations, family members continue to practice these traditions by building altars (altares) where they place pictures of their beloved family members along with food and other items their family members enjoyed during their lifetime.

If you are interested in putting up an altar in remembrance of a loved one, please email Roberto Renteria at rrenteria@mendocino.edu.

The Mendocino College Dream Center invites the community to attend a FREE screening of:

From Here, From There (De Aqui De Alla)

A film by Marlene "Mo" Morris

A Co-Production of Galewind Films and Latino Public Broadcasting presented as part of the PBS VOCES series, with major funding provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

When ICE threatens 700,000 fellow Dreamers, immigration lawyer Luis Cortes Romero fights back — and becomes the first undocumented immigrant to argue a case at the U.S. Supreme Court. The DACA program, aimed at shielding undocumented immigrants brought into the U.S. as children, is under attack, and time is running out for young DACA recipients. FROM HERE/FROMTHERE (DE AQUÍ/DE ALLÁ) is an uplifting and clear-eyed documentary interweaving the controversial case’s journey to the Supreme Court, the immigrant rights movement, and the remarkable personal story of family, hope, and perseverance.

Luis Cortes Romero will be in attendance at the screening and will participate in a Q&A session moderated by Dr. Roberto Renteria, HSI Program Manager.

Wall Street Journal
“As entertaining as it is informative . .. A tale well told”

People's World
“Lively documentary . . . Through it all shines Luis’s street-savvy, intelligence, and political awareness of the shortcomings but necessity of the [DACA]program he was defending.”

The Seattle Times
“Groundbreaking story”

Marin Magazine
“Extraordinary film . . . not to miss ”
