The Mendocino College Symposium announces the third virtual lecture in the series:

Curious Reactions: Vaccines and Social Response to be held on Tuesday, February 2 at 6 pm

The aim of this audacious and overly ambitious presentation is to explore some of the social responses to vaccination that we have been grappling with since the earliest attempts to create vaccines were made. This lecture will also evaluate how present-day vaccines work and discuss some common contemporary concerns of vaccination including those related to COVID-19.

Speaker Bio:

Larry Aguirre has a bachelors degree in Anthropology, Sociology, and History, from the University of Redlands, a masters degree in Physician Assistant in Primary Care and in 2020 completed a doctorate in Medical Science. He has also completed a Fellowship in psychiatry through UC Davis. 

Dr. Aguirre is a Captain in the Army National Guard, practices medicine in our community, and teaches Health for Mendocino College.

This series features our professors speaking on topics of interest/research for them and invited speakers from the community or outside sharing their experiences and expertise. These lectures are a forum for our students and our community to explore the challenges facing our home and our country. We hope this provides a chance to learn, examine and grow in positive and meaningful ways as we strive for a more equitable world where we come closer to achieving the promises of the American Dream for equality, justice and opportunity.
