About this Event

The annual Mendocino College Teachers on Teaching conference is designed to explore a variety of topics of interest to teachers across disciplines from Kindergarten through Community College. The goal of the conference is to bring educators together to share ideas, build collaboration, and learn about current practices and projects in the community. The conference is geared to current and future educators.

This Year’s Theme: Teaching with Compassion! Keynote: Kris Swett and Student presenter Mercy Ruiz Topics: Big Picture; Emotional Well-Being; Building Meaningful Relationships with Students

Workshops will explore:

  • Fostering Connections and Empathy in the Classroom
  • Creating Communities of Care: Building Engagement Among Struggling Student populations
  • Connecting with Community

 

Lecture: Trauma and Transformation in the Classroom:  Zoom Lecture and Discussion, by Marjorie Florestal
Topics: Explores how racial trauma shows up in the classroom, and how professors can transform the experience into a teaching moment.
