As the grand finale of the UCCA season, Elena Casanova returns to Ukiah to perform a multi-media concert of music from her native Cuba.

Long a Ukiah favorite, the brilliant piano virtuoso, Elena Casanova, has assembled an exciting multi-media concert around her performances of music evoking the flavor of Cuba from years gone by.

Incorporating guest artists, graphic art and video projections, lighting and narration, she will immerse us in the riches of the popular art music by composers from her native island. Elena’s passion for this music grew from the beginning of her conservatory studies in Havana at the age of seven and has continued in performance and recordings throughout her career.

Join her to celebrate this lovely, lyrical and lively musical tradition so rarely heard outside of Cuba.

New World String Project performs Celtic, Nordic, and American traditional and original music on an exciting variety of exotic instruments.

The New World String Project presents a lush blend of extraordinary instruments and heartwarming music in the Celtic, Nordic and American folk traditions.

It features John Weed (fiddle), Aryeh Frankfurter (nyckelharpa, fiddle, and Celtic harp), Lisa Lynne (cittern, Celtic harp and percussion), and Stuart Mason (guitar, bouzouki).  These four highly skilled and well-known multi-instrumentalists — two veteran duo acts — have joined forces to create an exciting weave of traditional world music.

Ancient and modern sounds mingle freely on Swedish nyckelharpa, Celtic harp, fiddle, guitar, cittern, bouzouki, and vocals with traditional ballads newly arranged.

The Mendocino College Art Gallery proudly presents

The Annual Juried Student Show!

Please join us for our largest and most popular exhibition of the year!  Mendocino College students have been working hard in and outside of class producing a wide range of artwork including ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, textiles, mixed media and woodworking.

Students from all the College campuses, the Krenov School, and dual enrollment High School programs are invited to enter up to three pieces of their artwork for consideration in this juried event.    This process is an educational one for students and is particularly useful for those who want to go on to exhibit their work in galleries or are building a portfolio for transfer to a four-year university.  This year we are exhibiting close to 200 artworks.  Much of the artwork is for sale and all proceeds go to the student artist.

The exhibit runs from March 23 through April 27, 2023, with a closing reception on Thursday, April 27th from 4-6 pm. Come celebrate the artists with this festive event including an open life drawing session outside the gallery featuring students from the college's dance program as costumed models.  No experience is necessary and all supplies are provided!

Regular Gallery hours are Tuesday, 12-3 pm, Wednesday, 3-6 pm, Thursday 12-3 pm, and by special appointment.  For more information email Gallery@mendocino.edu.
