Local Assistance Center
Mendocino College is hosting FEMA's Local Assistance Center at the East end of the Ukiah Campus, in the old Schat's location, Room 6220. Hours are 10 AM to 7 PM.
This is a multi-agency support center providing assistance to residents affected by the Redwood fire. The LAC has the following services and resources (but not limited to):

  • Food assistance
  • Disaster Recovery Support
  • Non-profit Agencies
  • Public Health/Environmental Health
  • Counseling Services
  • Vital Records
  • Social Security Administration
  • Agricultural Commission
  • DMV
  • Employment Development Department (ADD)
  • State Contractor's Licensing Board
  • Other Count Departments and State Programs

Donation of Supplies: (Mendocino College cannot accept donations of supplies at this time)
Ukiah Library is taking donations of clothing and giving clothes daily for those who need it.

Ukiah Fairgrounds: accepting large animals; domestic animal capacity filled locally, transporting animals elsewhere.

Support Information for Students:

The following services are also available to all students impacted by the fires:

STUDENTS IMPACTED BY THE FIRES SHOULD CHECK IN AT THE RESOURCE TABLE OUTSIDE ADMISSIONS & RECORDS IN MACMILLAN HALL.

Textbooks & School Supplies: We are continuing to work with the library and bookstore to make textbooks and other supplies available that may have been lost in the fires. Please contact Adan Chaidez directly to discuss the textbooks/supplies you lost during the fires. He can be reached at achaidez@mendocino.edu or 707.468.3119.

Food Pantry: Non-perishable food items are free of charge to any current student. Items are available at the Ukiah Campus (Student Center) and the North County Center (Willits). Available from 8 am – 5 pm.

Food Voucher: A limited number of food vouchers are available to students with an address in the areas impacted by the fires in our region (Potter Valley, Redwood Valley, Clearlake Oaks, Clearlake, and Geyserville). Identification must be presented when claiming the food voucher. Food vouchers may be used for the purchase of any food items at select grocery stores. Food vouchers are available at the Ukiah Campus (MacMillan Hall – Counseling Office) or at the North County Center (Willits). Available from 9 am – 5 pm.

Emergency Funds: Mendocino College faculty, staff and community members have made emergency funds available to students impacted by the evacuations. Please contact Vice President Ulises Velasco directly to discuss ways in which Mendocino College can help. He can be reached at uvelasco@mendocino.edu or 707.467.1037.

Information Table: We will be staffing a table in front of Admissions & Records (Ukiah Campus - MacMillan Hall) to provide students with information about available services. Staff will be available to them  from 8 am - 6 pm.

Bathrooms & Showers: Mendocino College Ukiah Campus bathroom and shower facilities in the Athletic Building are open for public use 24 hours a day. Towels, shampoo, soap, and other hygiene items are provided. There are also some clothing items available.
