Innovative Programs for Students in the Rural Mendocino-Lake County Area to Obtain a Bachelor's Degree

Mendocino College students who apply to Sonoma State University (SSU) for Fall 2022 will be eligible for instant admission. The California State University (CSU) application period is October 1, 2021 through November 30, 2021, and students will be able to schedule an Instant Admissions appointment with SSU via Zoom and receive an immediate early admissions decision rather than having to wait several months. The first 100 students who participate in this process will get their CSU application fee reimbursed by Mendocino College.

“Students will greatly benefit from our continued relationship with Sonoma State University,” says Mendocino College VP of Student Services, Ulises Velasco. “Being able to have an instant admission decision will greatly reduce the anxiety and confusion related to transferring to a four-year institution. We look forward to this and many other opportunities to partner with an excellent institution. An instant admissions decision will allow great access to Mendocino and Lake county residents to come through Mendocino College on their way to obtaining a Bachelor’s degree from Sonoma State.”

In order to be eligible, students must:

  • Submit a CSU application by October 14
  • Complete at least 60 CSU-transferable units by end of Spring 2022
  • Complete CSU General Education (GE) Areas A1, A2, A3, and B4 by end of Spring 2022
  • Complete at least 30 units of CSU GE by end of Spring 2022
  • See www.mendocino.edu/transfer for specifics about GE, major prep, and GPA

Students who submit their California State University application between October 1 – 7, can schedule an appointment between October 13 – 15.

Students who submit their application between October 8 – 14, can schedule an appointment between October 20 – 22.

“Sonoma State University is excited to offer Fall 2022 Instant Admissions for students at Mendocino College. This is a very special opportunity for students looking to transfer to a four-year university and will ease the stress of awaiting a college decision,” said SSU Enrollment Manager, Kelley Keslar.
