Mendocino College releases the follow proclamation in response to the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia:

We, the Mendocino-Lake Community College District, Hereby Issue this Proclamation, Designating that:

We are offended by the recent detestable events in Charlottesville, Virginia and the attack on our American values. We condemn the white supremacists' hatred, racism, and anti-Semitism and proudly pledge to our college and community that we embrace diversity, inclusion, and tolerance while advocating for social justice. These unfortunate actions and immoral rationalizations, by certain groups and individuals, should strengthen our determination to continue the important equity work and our student-centered initiatives throughout our District.  Together, we can ensure that all of our District locations remain safe zones for teaching and learning, demonstrate tolerance, and help strengthen our communities. As we begin a new academic year, we ask that everyone in our community make an extra effort to support our students, including our students of color, immigrants, the undocumented, Muslims, Buddhists, Jews, and our LGBTQ communities.

This proclamation, signed by all constituent groups at Mendocino College, is attached.
