Susan Stern joined the Mendocino College Community in the spring semester of 2023. Before arriving in Ukiah, she taught English to multilingual adults and children in Oakland, California, Antigua, Guatemala, Chicago, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin for many decades. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois and has also lived, worked and learned in San Francisco, California, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Mexico. Susan graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois with a degree in Education and Sociology and completed her Masters Degree in teaching English as a second or other language from San Francisco State University. She is an avid reader, writer and learner and is committed to social justice teaching. Teaching beginning to advanced ESL classes at Mendocino College brings her great joy!
