The study of history fosters an understanding of ourselves and our world through the study of the past, both remote and recent, local and geographically distant. In so doing it equips students with cultural literacy and promotes critical thinking and the formation of well-informed perspectives on today's world. It also offers fundamental preparation for careers in business, government, teaching, and professional fields.
