PART TIME COUNSELORS

DUTIES :

Under general direction, provides individual and group guidance and counseling to students with academic, career/technical, educational, and personal concerns. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Counsels students considering career/technical certificate, degree and programs to other colleges; assists them with educational plans; helps students become more knowledgeable about their aptitudes, interests, values, and achievement levels; assists students in planning their selection of courses; serves as liaison for the respective geographic feeder schools/agencies; stays current with transfer requirements of universities/colleges and other technical training programs and institutions; assists students with their special needs and problems; assists faculty, administrators, and staff in recognizing these needs; maintains regular and consistent contact with faculty members regarding student issues and concerns; acts as a resource person for faculty concerning the transfer process to a four-year college; provides intervention services for students such as early alert; refers students who require more specialized counseling to appropriate agencies in the community; plan and conduct workshops related to the matriculation process; assists the Counseling department in developing Service Learning Outcomes; maintains an active membership and participation in local, regional, or national professional organizations and/or activities; provides residents of the District with information about Mendocino College; encourages them to use College resources; assists with departmental planning and implementing staff development activities; participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings; assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating the Counseling program through Program Review; serves on a variety of college committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling Psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work or career development

ASSIGNMENT/SALARY:
Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly contract basis. A part-time teaching assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment. Salary is determined by the total class hours times the individual's hourly rate of pay.
