Dena Watson-Krasts has been teaching at Mendocino College since 2006, initially as a Pilates instructor and later adding Communication and Psychology classes. She began her higher education journey at Santa Rosa Junior College, then transferred to complete dual Bachelor’s degrees in Studio Art and Art History/Visual Culture (now History of Consciousness) at University of California, Santa Cruz. Her passion for psychology was ignited during her undergraduate studies, which included extensive study of psychoanalytic theories with Victor Burgin. Returning for graduate studies at Sonoma State University in 2014, Dena specialized in analytical psychology and arts-based research, focusing on issues such as rape culture, trauma, and grief, while also receiving extensive training in therapeutic trauma approaches.

Dena lives in Ukiah with her wonderful husband of over 25 years and is proud mom to two amazing young adults. Being part of Mendocino College and connecting with students, colleagues and community members is one of her greatest joys.
