Coach Escobedo
Coach Escobedo

Former Mendocino College Women’s Volleyball and basketball alum, Katherine “Kat” Escobedo enters her second season as Head Coach for the lady eagles. “I am excited for this season. We have the skill, we have built the chemistry, and we have the heart to really compete in the Bay Valley Conference (BVC) this season.” Back on the court for the 2019 volleyball season: Sophomores Katie Kuehn, Liana Menton, Erin Hale, and KJ Taylor. Miss Katie Kuehn, played a huge roll for us last season as our setter and is a spark on the court. Katie is a player who can play anywhere and this season we plan on utilizing her in the back row as a defensive specialist. Liana Menton is a smart and aggressive player who is always looking to score. Like Katie, she is able to play anywhere and will be playing all around this season. Last season both Katie and Liana received the “most-improved player” award for the MC Eagles. Erin Hale, who is also a stand- out softball player for the Eagles will be holding down the middle as one of our middle hittesr. Erin is one of the most aggressive players I have coached in volleyball when it comes to scoring. Hale also serves as our team captain two seasons in a row. Last but certainly not least is our 2018 All- Conference second team player, KJ Taylor. KJ led our conference in blocks per set last season and was also our offensive MVP last season. Her skill, athleticism, leadership and love for the game will greatly contribute to our team this season.

Newcomers to the squad, but familiar faces to local volleyball fans will be talented players Kylie Udy (Clearlake H.S), Summer Gonzales (Potter Valley H.S), Aimee Gordon (Mendocino H.S), Kat Brown (Kelseyville H.S), Randi Lee (Ukiah H.S), and Emma Schueller (Ukiah, H.S) completes Coach Escobedo’s 2019 recruiting class.

I am extremely happy with the depth and chemistry of this team on and off the court. Every player is able to compete and contribute this season. I am thankful for this group of young ladies. They represent our school AND community in such a positive way. They make me proud!

Go Eagles!
