| Course Description |

| An introduction to fundamental acting techniques and terminology. While |
| the class is challenging and useful for students with varying levels of |
| experience, no prior work in theatre is required. Through exercises, |
| scene work, and improvisation, students develop their ability to "live |
| truthfully under imaginary circumstances." The course focuses on |
| Stanislavky's technique of realistic action (objectives) for |
| characterization and script analysis. Emphasis on fundamental acting |
| skills, such as: relaxation, concentration, listening and spontaneity. |
| The course culminates in a public performance of student scenes. |
