Course Description
An introduction to fundamental acting techniques and terminology. While
the class is challenging and useful for students with varying levels of
experience, no prior work in theatre is required. Through exercises,
scene work, and improvisation, students develop their ability to "live
truthfully under imaginary circumstances." The course focuses on
Stanislavky's technique of realistic action (objectives) for
characterization and script analysis. Emphasis on fundamental acting
skills, such as: relaxation, concentration, listening and spontaneity.
The course culminates in a public performance of student scenes.
