Mendocino College Receives IME Becas Grant

On June 30, 2011, Mendocino College Superintendent/President Kathy Lehner and CAMP Director Minerva Flores attended a grant ceremony hosted by the Mexican Consulate in San Francisco, during which Mendocino College was one of two organizations awarded an IME Becas (grant).

IME Becas is a program sponsored by the Mexican Government in collaboration with the University of California.  It is designed to raise the educational levels of the Mexican and Mexican American population in the United States. Grants are provided to educational institutions and nonprofit social organizations that educate and train Mexican immigrants and Mexican Americans interested in continuing their education.  Mendocino College has been a recipient of this program for the past three years, successfully assisting people of Mexican origin residing in Mendocino County achieve their college goals.  The IME grant provides students a small scholarship to help offset the costs of attending Mendocino College.  Over the past three years, Mendocino College has awarded IME grants to 100 students attending Mendocino College.  For the 2011-2012 school year, 30 students will be awarded grants ranging from $150-$700.

Thanks to this outstanding opportunity, more deserving students will continue to receive support towards their education.
