Mendocino College Presents Fourth Annual Summer Entrepreneurship Academy
Ukiah, CA - For the fourth straight year, Mendocino College is offering a special section of Entrepreneurial Management.
Students are able to earn three units of college credit in just eight days.  The course begins Monday July 14 and ends July 24.  It will run Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m.
The Summer Entrepreneurship Academy is a course available to any student, but structured especially for high school students looking to develop business skills and make productive use of some of their summer vacation.
Last summer, 30 students took part in this course and participants came from all over Mendocino and Lake Counties.  Over the past three years, high school students represented Covelo, Laytonville, Lakeport, Willits, Ukiah, Upper Lake, Kelseyville, Deep Valley Christian and other local high schools.
Entrepreneurial Management is designed for students to learn about the numerous aspects of starting and running an emerging business.  The curriculum will cover marketing, management, accounting, and operations for the prospective entrepreneur.
In a team environment, students will learn how to write a business plan, record a radio commercial, film a television commercial, build a website, make financial projections and create marketing plans.
Providing further opportunities to gain experience and knowledge from entrepreneurs, the class will take a field trip to several local businesses. Additionally, numerous guest speakers will be coming to the classroom to discuss their successful ventures.
Local professionals contributing their efforts to this program are KC Meadows from the Ukiah Daily Journal, Justin Briggs from KWNE radio, Marty Lombardi, Dan Gill and Stacy Starkey from Savings Bank of Mendocino, and Christa Nunez from Comcast Spotlight.  These contributors will work with the students to create press releases, radio commercials, video commercials, and financial projections.
