This course will focus on the orchestral music of late Romantic composers. Composers to be explored will include but not be limited to Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, and Sibelius. Examples will include symphonies, tone poems and overtures characteristic of the style period. Through the rehearsal and performance process, students will gain knowledge of the some of the greatest music ever written for the symphony orchestra. The course will culminate in a public performance of the music.
